We are Martin Ebar and Lia Anut, and we will provide you with a one-hour massage and a 3-hour massage course. We have been trained by an NGO that empowers people with disabilities who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hearing impaired or otherwise disabled. Sadly, for many social and cultural reasons people with disabilities are still very often discriminated against in Indonesia.
Definitely stop by and support us if you ever visit Labuanbajo or Komodo National Park.
- Enjoy a one-hour relaxing full body massage or reflexology treatment
- Learn massage techniques during a 3-hour course
- Help disabled people create their own future
- Duration: 4 hours
- Maximum number of participants is 3
We will first provide you with a relaxing full body massage or reflexology treatment of 1 hour. After that we will teach you different massage techniques during a ‘massage clinic’ of 3 hours! We will explain and show the techniques and you can experience how we normally train other people with disabilities at the training center. Although our communication is limited due to the speech impairment, we have other ways of teaching you (learning by doing, feeling, showing, repeating, experiencing and of course sign language). It’s an interesting and fun way of spending 3 hours during your stay in Labuanbajo and for sure an unforgettable experience!
We will provide English maps of foot reflexology for use during the training, a sign language card if needed to assist with communication, coffee/tea/snack during the break, and a certificate of competence after the ‘mini course’.
The foundation trains people with disabilities and afterwards employs them (with full salary). The Center opened in July 2007 and since then it has been a huge success. The goal for the near future is to train people with disabilities from rural villages after which they will return to their own village and work independently in their home environment.
- One-hour full body massage or reflexology treatment
- 3-hour training in massage techniques
- Coffee, tea and snack
- A certificate of competence
10% will be paid via Sipetualang.com and the rest of the amount needs to be paid on location.
Meet The Team
We are Martin, Bone, Baldus, Lia, Emi and Feni, and we are all experienced massage therapists at a local NGO. We are glad we received the opportunity to be able to work at this massage center and show our skills to the local community and travelers who visit Labuanbajo and Komodo National Park. We used to worry about how we could earn a living as young adults, but now we are confident we have a future. Besides raising awareness on disability issues in a positive and empowering way, we are also proud that we can train more people with disabilities and help them on their Road to Independence!
